The Kumaon - Tuning into nature
Tuning Into Nature at The Kumaon, Uttarakhand
The Kumaon sits quietly in the hills of Uttarakhand. It’s not flashy. It doesn’t try too hard. The architecture is clean and honest, the views are wide open, and the whole place has this calm, grounded energy. When we were brought in to set up an audio system in a few zones around the property, we knew we had to keep that same spirit alive.
This wasn’t about big sound or fancy gear for the sake of it. It was about making music and ambient sound feel natural, something that adds to the experience without pulling focus. We used a mix of speakers - Spektor 2s from DALI and CS500s from PSB in different areas, both brands we trust for their clean, honest sound. A single compact Mezzo amplifier from Powersoft is doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes. They’re compact, reliable, and work beautifully together.
Each common area has its setup, tuned for the vibe of that spot. We kept the gear low-profile. Nothing sticks out or feels forced. It all blends in, like it was always meant to be there.
This one meant a lot to us. The Kumaon is the kind of place that makes you slow down and pay attention. We wanted the sound to do the same. Not to stand out, but to sit right. And now it does.
Tip: If you're visiting the property, sit down on the sofa right in the centre of the main lobby. You have equally placed speakers on your left and right, creating a sweet spot at this seat with a view of the Himalayas right across. Close your eyes and let the magic unravel!
